Carla Knapp is a fashion professional, recognized for her prescient approach to design.

Calling New York City her home since 2002, this native Canadian has created and participated in a number of notable style moments for influential contemporary and designer fashion brands.

Her unique talent to grow a brand and its identity are supported by her strengths in leadership and design. Carla’s 15 years of agility and experience fuel her ongoing contributions to the successes of growing and established womenswear and menswear brands. She currently works in New York City as a Creative Consultant, and has proven successes launching, rebranding and expanding existing collections brands based in New York, Los Angeles and London. Some of her clients include Anthropologie, Mark Fast, Buck Mason and Hesperios.

In 2014, while still working as Creative Strategist for Another Garde, Carla was appointed Vice President of Design for Current/Elliott and quickly implemented an elevated brand vision across all consumer touch points. She expanded and refocused the womenswear collection and managed the execution of several new initiatives, including Current/Elliott menswear, the launch of the first flagship store, and exclusive collaborations with other brands and global influencers. She was responsible for the hiring and management of a team of 20 designers, product developers and pattern makers.

In 2013, Carla began work as Creative Strategist on AnotherGarde.com, a curated launch pad that specializes in representing emerging designer collections with limited global distribution. She was responsible for the creative development and execution of brand identity, voice and messaging across all channels of this e-commerce upstart.

In 2012, Carla joined Anthropologie as Design Director. At Anthropologie, she provided creative direction from concept to final development stages, for over $250M in product. She provided leadership to a team of 20 designers and closely collaborated with cross functional teams to improve product aesthetic, brand experience and to achieve business goals.

In 2010, Carla joined Doo.Ri and Under.Ligne as Design Director. In addition to directing the vision for both brands, she oversaw all brand collaborations and messaging. During her tenure as Director, the company saw a sharp rise in sales and publicity for both collections.

In 2006, Carla launched Mischen, a contemporary womenswear line that garnered attention as an eclectic and architectural womenswear collection. Mischen was featured in the world’s most notable publications and sold around the world at influential boutiques and department stores.

Prior to launching Mischen, Carla led design teams at both Jill Stuart and Paper Denim & Cloth.

Carla earned her degree from the Art Institute of Seattle where she studied art and fashion design before moving to New York City to study at Parsons School of Design. She spent the last of her teen years studying in Europe.
